Pratt Industries has just
announced the opening of its 365,000 square foot corrugated
box plant in Statesville, featuring a new state-of-the-art
110-inch BHS corrugator.
The green-field site
replaces the existing plant which opened in 1989 as a sheet
feeder.
The
$30 million project also includes additional converting
equipment including a new 50” Ward flexo-folder-gluer and a
transferred Martin Mini flexo-folder-gluer and a second
Bobst die cutter.
A design center with
full design capabilities is a part of the plan for the new
facility and one of the existing 68” corrugators is being
upgraded with a new BHS slitter station and Greenline double
down stackers. It will be installed next to the new BHS
corrugator.
Pratt is also
relocating the existing single-face operation, top-sheet
laminators, rotary die cutter and Post folder gluer to the
new facility, which will increase the Pratt Statesville
workforce by more than 60 full-time jobs to 185 employees.
More jobs will be added as additional converting equipment
is installed in the coming years.
Eventually the new
facility will be converting 600 tons per day 150,000 or tons
per year of corrugated sheets, RSCs and specialty corrugated
products.
Pratt Statesville
opened in 1989 as a sheet feeder supplying standard and
specialty sheets to sheet plants in the market area.
Statesville was known for exceptional quality, service, and
creative corrugated sheets.
Today, only the product mix has
changed – quality and service are still number one!
