BOX FACTORIES
Pratt Industries
Converting Division is a leader in the corrugated packaging
industry with its network of box factories, display
manufacturing facilities, fulfillment centers and specialty
packaging plants.
Because of
the company’s versatility and excellent geographic range, we
are able to supply packaging for durable and non-durable
goods.
We serve
numerous end-use markets for corrugated
packaging
in North America, including lighting, electronics, glass,
telecommunications, automotive, pharmaceuticals, toys and
sporting goods, wine and spirits, vegetables, fruit, pizza,
poultry, meats and fish.
Our box
making factories are positioned carefully to serve distinct
local regional markets as well as National Accounts. Some
plants specialize in long production runs while others focus
on JIT service, displays or multi-media packaging.
We also
offer custom-made packaging solutions and specialty services
such as protective packaging, bulk boxes including triple
wall, partitions and technical services. |

RED HEAD BOX
The Red Head Box
concept is modeled on the very successful restaurant chain
Waffle
House, which is based in Georgia. All their locations and
operations are standardized for
maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness and customer
service.
RHB – which we named after our chairman Anthony Pratt’s
great grandfather Jebediah
Pratt – is based on high technology equipment with a fixed
head count of 25 maximum
in a 49,000 sq. ft building with low overheads, high service
levels, and doing about $10
million in sales per year with a low capital cost.
The plants cater to that segment of customers which won’t go
to China and which taps
into the entrepreneurial spirit of the American fabric – the
small business owner who risks
his/her
life savings to start a business. This is the great national
resource of America.
In the spring of 2005 Pratt unveiled the first of these
RHB’s – a major industry initiative
which we believe will better service our customers.
Pratt Industries has already opened 4 of these RHB’s – in
Dallas, Nashville, Richmond
and Monterrey – and there are plans to start up three others
by year’s end.
The sites will be Tulsa, Missouri and Pennsylvania.
Each new facility will be modeled on the others – compact
and streamlined, with two or
three fast set-up machines with excellent multi-color print
capability. Some will do labels
and some specialty work – but all will be focused on local
service.
The RHB’s are lean in terms of people and processes to keep
costs under control, and
they draw on our world class corrugators for board.
